LED rope lighting is more expensive than incandescent rope lighting for of 2 reasons - more efficient (lower utility bill) and much longer bulb life (10000 hours of bulb life). I purchased two 164 foot reels of LED lighting to enhance my boat dock. $$$ After only 400 to 600 hours of use ( started at 50 hours approx) about half of the sections have gone dark. Another good 8 foot section goes dark about once a month. I emailed seller about the problem I was told that moisture probably caused the problem. These rope lights are not exposed to rain because I have a covered dock. They are also marketed for marine use.
If I knew that 400 to 600 hours is the life expectancy then I would have saved a great deal of money and purchased the incandescent light product that cost a quarter of the price.
Don't buy this inferior product.
