I just got this delivered and set it up right away to separate a small front room from the living room. Since my home has dark wooden window frames, hardwood floors, and built-in wood hutches, this color fit in beautifully. The style is understated, but extremely tasteful, and screams antique, wood blemishes and all. You can smell the faint aroma of wood stain and Fir upon opening the box, and it's not at all unpleasant. One side has no decoration, which is no big deal since that is facing away from the living room, and the stylized side most people will see feels like it is part of the room. I have a red-beige throw rug that also blends in perfectly.

I tried to picture it in a more contemporary home (white window frames, wall to wall carpeting) and I think it would probably break up the landscape without overpowering the room.

The quality is great, and it only requires placing a slotted top into the top of each panel (total of four slats). That's it. It's sturdy, but not heavy that an average size person couldn't move around easily. The stated 35 pounds sounds about right. The designs on each panel are on some kind of corkwood, but not spongy like a cork board. I would not suggest using it to pin up notes. ;) I also have a cat that likes to "pick" at things when I'm away, so my previous divider 4 Panel Black Oriental Shoji Screen / Room Divider made of thick paper cloth and wood cross beams would get a little more shredded every day. At least with this I don't think he'll scratch it since he only seems to like cloth (as in couches, fabric chairs, etc...)

I can't think of a single negative, especially at this price, and the fact that one side has no design flourishes was actually a selling point for me. If I ever needed to separate another area, this is what I'd buy again. Great divider at a great price.
